Larry Katz is founder and CEO of Komen Capital and has many years of experience advising and investing in Africa's category leaders in the marketing services, technology and education sectors.
He has executed M&A and capital raising transactions involving some of the best known African internet, advertising, technology and education companies. He has executed transactions with amongst others, WPP, Omnicom, the Publicis Groupe, Interpublic Group, Dentsu Aegis Network, M&C Saatchi, Kagiso Media and The Times Media Group.
Larry started his career as a young entrepreneur publishing academic material whilst studying finance at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
After graduating with an honours in Finance he established a SA publishing, media and services company which he developed over 17 years before exiting and realising value in 2007.
During that time he served on the board of the SA Magazine Publishers Association and in 1997 was a regional winner and finalist in the SA Entrepreneur of the Year award.
In 2007, Larry established Komen Capital which corresponded with the Advertising Holding
Companies strategy of investing and developing its services in fast-growing and emerging markets and strengthening its capabilities in digital marketing, media and technology platforms. Larry has been a central figure in more than 50% of the Advertising Holding Company transactions that have taken place in South Africa over the past five years.
